As you may or may not already know, Glendale Jr. Sr. High School is home to a planetarium, which is very rare for a rural school district such as ours to have. Many former students recall fond memories of visiting the planetarium during their time spent here as students. The planetarium has provided our community with extensive educational opportunities over the years, but unfortunately, the projector system is in a state of disrepair and is inoperable.
One of our seniors, Scott Beers, is working with the Glendale Education Foundation to raise funds for the repair of the planetarium. We are hoping to purchase a new high-definition digital laser-projection system that will enable the planetarium to continue serving our district and community. Some of the advantages of the new system will include the ability to visit other planets, view the night sky from any time or location in the world on demand, play professionally produced shows, and more.
Please consider making a donation! You can make a donation online by visiting the Glendale Planetarium website, or you can fill out a physical donation form and turn it into the office. All donations are tax deductible and will be held by the Glendale Education Foundation for the specific purpose of funding the planetarium restoration.
The online and physical donation forms can both be found on the official planetarium website at www.gsdplanetarium.org
