Students enjoyed a special author visit from Sue Shaffner and Denny Shaffner, who shared an engaging presentation about America’s upcoming 250th birthday and the original 13 colonies declaring independence from England. Students sang “This Land Is Your Land” and learned fun geography connections, including how to make a map of Pennsylvania using their hand. They also learned about William Penn, the meaning of the Keystone State, and the importance of the Golden Rule—treat others the way you want to be treated. Although our school is not located in Clearfield County, many of our students live there. Each student received a copy of C is for Clearfield County, celebrating the history and community of Clearfield County.

Remi, our school therapy dog, brings comfort and encouragement to students—especially when they read aloud to her. Sitting beside Remi helps students feel relaxed and confident because she listens without judgment. This calm, supportive environment allows readers to practice fluency and build confidence, often motivating even reluctant readers to participate. Therapy dogs in schools help reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, support emotional regulation, and encourage positive social interactions. Simply spending time with a dog can help students feel more focused and ready to learn. Remi is more than just a visitor—she is a valued member of our school community. Through her gentle presence and listening ears, she helps create a nurturing environment where students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. 🐾💙💛 #vikingproud
